Meet our newest team member, Matt Hopkins, our Service Field Manager. Matt is an extremely positive individual with years of experience who is eager to work for Kraft Business Systems. That’s why we are excited to share with you his role and what he will bring to our growing team.

1. What is Your Educational and Career Background?

I got my start in servicing equipment by working at a hardware store during high school. I was able to work directly with customers and gained a lot of confidence in customer communication. I graduated from Tri County High School in 1992. I attended Grand Rapids Community College for HVAC and Electrical and worked as an HVAC dealer doing service. In 1993, I got a job at The Copy Center in the Parts Department, then onto Service. I stayed through business and ownership changes for almost 30 years, until taking this new position at Kraft Business Systems.

2. What is Your Role at Kraft Business Systems, and What Does it Entail?

I am a Technician and Manager in the Service Department. I direct service calls to technicians and help customers find solutions. I travel all over west Michigan from Cadillac to the lakeshore or to the east side of the state, I go wherever needed to service equipment.

3. What Inspired You to Work for Kraft? What Led You to the Team?

A former colleague of mine reached out to me and told me that Kraft was looking for another tech. At first, I was hesitant since I had been at my previous company for so long, but after meeting and talking with Bill and Scott at Kraft, I started to change my mind and took the chance. I knew I was in the right place after the first meeting. I was impressed by how friendly and real everybody was. The culture is very positive and refreshing to work for. Kraft truly cares about the customer experience and the employees.

4. What is Your Favorite Part of Your Job?

My favorite part of the job is working with customers on a daily basis and solving their issues. No two service calls are the same—everything is basically a new challenge—so it feels like a new job day to day. Getting to work with so many other technicians that have such a wide background has been an asset for equipment issues.

5. What Do You Like to Do in Your Free Time?

I volunteer at a non-profit club in Sand Lake, MI. I bartend there on the weekends and am also a trustee there. As a group, we organize fundraisers for various local causes or families who need help.

6. Fun Fact About Yourself

I was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for 10+ years in Sand Lake. I was also a lead vocalist for a local band called Branded which I started in 1997 to 2009. We played at small and large venues across West Michigan and also opened for many country stars such as Jason Aldean, Dirks Bentley, Little Big Town, and others.
