Lexmark X740 Series

The Lexmark X740 Series (X748DE) is a 35 ppm color MFP for small to mid-sized workgroups: 2,400 x 600 dpi print, 600 dpi scan, 9-second first page out, 50-sheet ADF, 250-sheet output, and a 7-inch color touchscreen with the e-Task interface. Standard input starts at 650 sheets, expandable to 4,300 sheets, and the X748dte variant adds a 1,200-sheet drawer plus optional 160 GB hard drive. Connectivity covers Gigabit Ethernet, USB, optional Wi-Fi, IPSec, SNMPv3, and 802.1X security. ENERGY STAR qualified with Hibernate Mode. It's an older platform now but solid for offices doing 3,000-8,000 color pages a month. The catch buyers admit to: the X740 line is end-of-life from Lexmark, so consumables and service contracts are tighter than they used to be. If you're shopping new, the CX725 is the modern equivalent with a faster processor and current support. If you're buying refurbished at a steep discount, the X748DE is still a workhorse.
