The Xerox AltaLink B8170 is a 70-class A3 mono multifunction built for high-volume departments and small in-house print rooms — think 50 to 150 users running 12,000 to 30,000 pages a month with regular tabloid output and constant scanning. It prints and copies up to 72 ppm letter/A4 (47 ppm at 11x17), runs the 250-sheet single-pass DADF at 135 ppm simplex / 270 ipm duplex, and is rated for a 300,000-page monthly duty cycle (Xerox's recommended monthly volume sits in the high teens of thousands). Standard paper capacity with the high-capacity tandem tray is 3,140 sheets, expandable to 6,140 with the 3,000-sheet HCF. The 10.1" tablet-like color touchscreen runs the same ConnectKey workflow stack as the rest of the AltaLink line — Workflow Central, App Gallery, Fleet Orchestrator. With the BR Booklet Maker Finisher and the C-fold/Z-fold unit it functions as a small in-house print shop (64-page saddle-stitched booklets, multi-position staple, 2/3-hole punch). Security is the enterprise tier: Trusted Boot, Trellix/McAfee whitelisting, Common Criteria, FIPS 140-2, McAfee ePO and Cisco ISE integration. Buyers regret: not budgeting for the dedicated 20A circuit and the floor space — base footprint is already 24.4 x 31.2 x 46 in. and full finisher configurations push width past 90 inches.
