Both run at 45 ppm B&W on letter (22 ppm on 11x17), post a 4.0-second first-copy-out and a 25-second warm-up, and are rated for 200,000 pages a month. Standard paper input is two 500-sheet drawers plus a 150-sheet bypass for 1,150 sheets total; max capacity is 6,650 sheets with the LU-207 (12x18 capable) or LU-302 large-capacity tray and PC-410. Print resolution is 1800 x 600 dpi or true 1200 x 1200 dpi. The 458e (e-suffix) ships with the DF-704 single-pass dual-scan ADF standard; the base 458 takes it as an option. 4GB system memory and a 250GB HDD come standard, so User Box, encrypted PDF, and fax-to-folder work out of the box.
