You'll be happy if...

  • You print up to 4,000 pages a month — the duty cycle is rated to 50,000 but Lexmark's recommended sweet spot tops out at 2,500. You can push it; you'll just replace the 1.5K return-program cartridges more often.
  • You occasionally scan to a USB flash drive at the device — it works, the 2.8" touchscreen makes the menu navigation a little fiddly.
  • You're replacing a Brother MFC-L3770CDW or HP M283fdw — speeds and footprint are comparable; Lexmark toner economics favor the higher-yield 6K cartridges if you can fit them in the budget.
  • You need legal-size print or scan — both are supported, just slower than letter.
