Xerox VersaLink C500DN

The Xerox VersaLink C500/DN is a desktop color laser printer for small workgroups and offices of 5-15 users that need 45 ppm color in-house but don't need scan, copy, or fax. It prints up to 45 ppm in both black and color (letter, long-edge feed), drops to 37 ppm on legal, and supports automatic two-sided printing standard. First page out is 5.0 seconds black / 5.3 seconds color, resolution is 1200 x 2400 dpi, and the unit is rated for a 120,000-page monthly duty cycle (Xerox recommends staying under 10,000 for sane toner economics). Standard paper capacity is 700 sheets across the 150-sheet bypass and 550-sheet Tray 1, expandable to 3,250 sheets with up to four optional 550-sheet feeders or the 2,000-sheet HCI. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB 3.0 standard; Wi-Fi/NFC are an optional kit. The 5-inch capacitive color touchscreen runs Xerox ConnectKey apps from the App Gallery, and the unit slots cleanly into a Xerox managed-fleet contract with AMR meter reads and ASR auto-supplies. The thing buyers regret: paying for an enterprise toner platform on a desktop printer. If you print under 500 pages a month, look at a smaller unit. If you need scan/copy/fax, get the C505 on the same chassis.
