  • You print 4,500-6,000 pages a month — the machine handles it but you'll be replacing toner more often than ideal. Use the 15,000-page extra-high-cap (106R03624) to keep cost down.
  • You only need a 1,000-page starter toner — that's all that ships in the box (the 2,600-page standard is sold separately).
  • You're scanning two-sided originals — the reversing ADF handles them but at roughly half the simplex speed (8.4 cpm duplex vs. 40 cpm simplex copy).
  • You can live with the 4.3-inch touchscreen — it's smaller and less responsive than the VersaLink 5- and 7-inch screens.
  • You're occasionally faxing — color fax send works (200x200 dpi only); receive is mono only.
