Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Xerox WorkCentre 3345 is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a small office or a team of 3-15 people that needs mono print, copy, scan, and fax in one box without paying for color or A3.
  • You print 1,500-4,500 pages a month and want headroom — Xerox rates this at 80,000 pages/month max.
  • You scan multi-page double-sided documents regularly — the 50-sheet reversing duplex ADF handles that automatically (no manual flipping).
  • You want one machine that does the four basics — print, copy, scan, fax — without color or tabloid.
  • You need Wi-Fi standard, not as a kit — the 3345 ships with wireless built in.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 4,500-6,000 pages a month — the machine handles it but you'll be replacing toner more often than ideal. Use the 15,000-page extra-high-cap (106R03624) to keep cost down.
  • You only need a 1,000-page starter toner — that's all that ships in the box (the 2,600-page standard is sold separately).
  • You're scanning two-sided originals — the reversing ADF handles them but at roughly half the simplex speed (8.4 cpm duplex vs. 40 cpm simplex copy).
  • You can live with the 4.3-inch touchscreen — it's smaller and less responsive than the VersaLink 5- and 7-inch screens.
  • You're occasionally faxing — color fax send works (200x200 dpi only); receive is mono only.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print more than 6,000 pages a month consistently — at that volume the VersaLink B605 mono MFP is a better fit. Faster engine, single-pass duplex ADF, longer toner life.
  • You need color — this is mono only. Look at the VersaLink C405 or C605.
  • You need single-pass duplex scanning — the 3345 reversing ADF flips originals one at a time, which is automatic but slow. Single-pass duplex is on the VersaLink B605 and up.
  • You scan large stacks of double-sided originals daily — the reversing ADF will be the bottleneck. Step up to single-pass duplex.
  • You need an enterprise-grade hardware platform — this is a small-office device with a 1 GHz controller and 1.5 GB memory. The VersaLink B605 is the upgrade path.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Xerox WorkCentre 3345 is a compact mono laser multifunction printer for small offices and teams of 3-15. It prints at 42 ppm letter, copies at 40 cpm simplex / 8.4 cpm duplex, has a 50-sheet reversing duplex ADF for two-sided scanning without manual flipping, automatic 2-sided printing, and a 4.3-inch color touchscreen. Standard paper capacity is 300 sheets (250-sheet Tray 1 plus 50-sheet bypass), expandable to 850 with the optional 550-sheet feeder. Monthly duty cycle is 80,000 pages with Xerox's recommended throughput around 6,000 pages. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, and Wi-Fi standard — no kit required. Print resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi. The thing buyers regret on the 3345: thinking the reversing ADF means single-pass speed for two-sided scans (it doesn't — it flips each sheet, so duplex throughput is roughly half simplex). If you scan large stacks of double-sided contracts daily, jump to the VersaLink B605 for the single-pass DADF. The other gotcha — only the 1,000-page starter toner ships in the box, so plan for a replacement order at install. The 15,000-page extra-high-cap (106R03624) is the right replacement for sane per-page cost.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

What customers actually say

The 5-star consensus: "it just works"

Small sample size, high signal. The 5 verified reviewers picked this model to replace older inkjets or aging Xerox machines. Common threads in the feedback:

  • "Been using this in our small office for about two years now and it handles our volume without complaint. The automatic document feeder is solid and the copy quality is consistent. Not flashy but gets the job done."
  • "Good workhorse printer for a home office setup. The scanning to email function works well and pages come out clean. My only complaint is the toner cartridges are a bit pricey, but that seems standard for this type of machine."
  • "We've had this machine in our small office for about 2 years now and it's been solid. The print quality is consistent, scanning to email works without much fuss, and it handles our monthly volume without any real issues."
  • "Good workhorse for a busy office. The 35 ppm is respectable for our needs, though the toner cartridges are a bit pricey. Paper jams aren't common, which I appreciate."
  • "Been using it for about a year. It does what it's supposed to do reliably, though the touchscreen can be a bit slow to respond sometimes. Still beats the cheaper models we looked at."
