The Xerox WorkCentre 5740 is a 40 ppm A3 monochrome MFP from the 5700 series, sized for workgroups handling 50,000-100,000 pages monthly. It prints, copies, scans, and faxes across letter, legal, and tabloid with a duplex DADF for two-sided originals, output up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, and standard paper handling around 2,100 sheets expandable via high-capacity feeder. Finishing options include the Integrated Office Finisher and Advanced Office Finisher with hole punch and booklet making. Wired Ethernet and USB connectivity, security via Secure Print and 802.1x. The regret on this one: like the rest of the 5700 series, it's discontinued — Xerox moved on to the 5800 then 5900 line, and parts pipelines are thinning. Worth it on a sharp refurb price if your dealer can guarantee 18-24 months of consumables. Toner cartridge yield runs in the 35,000-page range and the legacy Xerox touchscreen interface is functional but dated. Scan-to-email and scan-to-folder ship standard, and the 5700 series predates AirPrint so mobile printing requires a print server bridge.
